Two international events were recently hosted in Sydney, and in Australia for the first time: the Linked Open Data: Libraries, Archives, Museums (LODLAM) Summit and the Digital Humanities (DH) Conference.  Behind the scenes Intersect was involved in the coordination and support of both events and working in partnership with the hosts: the State Library of New South Wales (Richard Neville, Maggie Patton, Louise Denoon) and the University of Western Sydney (Paul Arthur, Jason Ensor, Rachel Hendery).  At the final count over half of the 110 summit attendees were colleagues that work in Australian universities and the conference delegate numbers were around 500 and from 33 countries.

Intersect is readily recognised for its capacity to support sector events, provide products and services to researchers across domains and to collaborate within the sector.  At the Digital Humanities conference, members of our team delivered an OpenRefine workshop; demonstrated the Alveo virtual lab with Dominique Estival  (UWS), presented on the new TwitterScraper tool with Jonathon Hutchinson (Sydney) and chaired a multi-speaker session on using linked data methods in research. These efforts reflect the company aim since inception to provide support for humanities, arts and social science research by building eResearch expertise in delivering training, software and data management.

The intensification of the pace of change in digital humanities research was also apparent at the Digital Humanities conference evidenced by team-based project work, methodological experimentation, deep detailed questioning and debate, technology testing, data discussions and app development.  Conference presentations were a stimulating combination of these facets of data and technology intensive research.
