Early success in online training

In March 2020, Intersect formally commenced delivering training courses online, working towards the high-quality, online training delivery of the full Intersect training catalogue

On March 24-25, Intersect ran R for Reproducible Scientific Analysis at the University of Newcastle. Eleven attendees, including higher degree research students and post-doctoral researchers from four different faculties, participated in the two half-day sessions. This was followed on March 31 with our first online training at La Trobe University, replacing a face-to-face course in Data Capture and Surveys with REDCap originally planned for the Bendigo campus. Eighteen participants attended the training, including Heads of Departments, academics, and higher degree research students.

Enthusiastic engagement in both courses led to lots of relevant questions, as Intersect made use of the Zoom chat functionality and breakout rooms to facilitate learning. The NPS for the two courses were +67 and +56; this is considered to be excellent and in line with Intersect’s all time average NPS, suggesting the successful delivery of online training that parallels our face-to-face training in quality and attendee experience.

Since then, online courses have also been delivered to the University of Sydney, the University of New England, and the University of Technology Sydney, with courses at other member universities being scheduled.

Please feel free to contact your local eResearch Analyst or Intersect Help should you have further questions regarding training or need any assistance in the use of digital research technologies.
